How Yoga Can Reduce Depression and Anxiety

The anxiety level of the whole world is increasing with time. 9-5 jobs, laborious housework, dependence on machines, and unnatural life has severe effects on the overall health of a typical person. People tend to do whatever they can to reduce anxiety; however, do not consider joining yoga classes or starting a yoga session at home for just half an hour or less.

Yoga is widely considered to be a great source of staying fit and healthy. Flexibility and strength are the core purpose of almost all the yoga poses. Yoga is not something like bodybuilding, which has different phases and diet plans. It is a uniform endeavor in which a simple healthy diet is all you need. Bodybuilders have to hit the gym at least 3 days per week and the duration of single session increases with time, but for yoga training, even hour or less per day is enough to go all day.
Yoga is not something new. It has its roots dating back to centuries and is known to have no negative impact on the body.

Surprisingly, recent studies have shown that apart from keeping yoga enthusiasts in good shape and health, it is an effective source of happiness.

How It Works

Stress is directly associated with mental health and happiness. A tired or depressed mind can quickly induce high levels of stress and anxiety. Yoga comes in handy for treating depression through its relaxing poses and energy-releasing breath controls. Researchers have found out that even three months of yoga classes can significantly refresh the whole body and mind.

Yoga poses help maintain the alignment of the body, which removes all types of body pains, which could later result in poor sleep and in the end, a tired mind and body.

Although a short yoga class of 30 minutes is enough for the body and mind, however a long yoga session of an hour or more can make the most out of yoga.

Mind-Body Connection

Though it was widely overlooked at the beginning of modern yoga or bodybuilding rules, the mind-body connection is all that is targeted now in every yoga exercise. When the mind and body are in harmony, peace of mind and high energy levels are attained.
Yoga helps an individual learn how his body responds to each pose and ultimately helps him understand the way it works. Full control over the body is actually the beginning of a healthy life.
